At the core of the Benedictine way of spiritual growth is the daily rule, a blend of reading, prayer and work. For our June 22nd meeting be thinking about what daily practices you follow to help you stay on track as a Christian. Be prepared to share what you do so we can learn from each other.
We will then work at developing our own personal daily rule. For some the word 'rule' is rather loaded with negative connotations; think in terms of daily practice or daily discipline if those terms work better for you.
See you next Sunday, at 5:00 PM in the Parish Hall!

I seem to be able to post a comment to an already established thread, but I do not seems to be able to create a new one. Suggestions? What am I doing wrong?
I believe all replies need to be comments to blog posts. If I understand it correctly only the original 'blogger' can create new blog posts. So, just to keep us straight with our terms: a 'post' is an original blog post that comes from me; a 'comment' is a reply within a particular blog post that can be left by any of us. Capiche?
We will sharing our daily practices during our next meeting on July 6.
I definitely will not be at the next meeting as I will still be at the Lake celebrating the 4th of July Holiday. I have started taking "note" of other things I do on a daily basis that are actually a "practice" but because they are simple I never really thought about them being part of my "rule"..when in actuality I think they are! As I complete my "list" I will share with all.
Have a blessed day.
Linda
P.S. The time shown on this comment is definitely NOT CORRECT! I am NEVER up at 5:00 in the AM. Ha! It's more like 8:00 am now. :)
Virginia, I agree with what you say about living in isolation. It is definitely through prayer that we become a part of a community and join with millions of others worldwide. Your post made perfect sense to me. One of our hardest tasks when it comes to prayer is as you said -- leaving our egos aside. When we can enter into quiet time for prayer, center ourselves, it becomes easier to have that boundary in place that keeps Christ in and ego out.
